Ever since Google cracked down on arbitrage publishers have been iffy about the validity as arbitrage as a business model. I understand this sentiment- after all, the largest and most powerful search engine on Earth really laid the smack down to hundreds of publishers a couple of months ago, and no one wants to be on the receiving end of that firestorm.

So, the question here is “how the heck do I generate traffic to my arbitrage website?” The answer, of course, is simple: PPC, or SEO.

PPC

There are other pay-per-click websites besides AdWords, so feel around for one that suits your needs. In the past I would have recommended 7search, but their recent decision to cut back the number of keywords that you can from to 1,000 (from 10,000) seriously limits the scalability of your account.

I have had mixed results with Yahoo! Search Marketing, MSN AdCenter, and GoClick. I encourage you to try all three (and any other PPC search engines that you find) and test them for yourself. Remember that my results will be completely independent of yours- if I had poor results with one, you may have excellent results. It’s a matter of niche and keywords.

SEO

Search engine optimization for an arbitrage website. Sounds crazy doesn’t it?

Alas, SEOing an arbitrage website is a very smart thing to do, especially if that website has a click-through ratio that is between 20%-80%. Heck, any click-through ratio above 0 is great when you’re ranked high in the SERPs.

Don’t forget to experiment and try things out. It costs money to make money, if you’re wary about throwing $20 at a PPC company because you are unsure of the possible results or that $20 will leave you financially destitute then you may want to consider a different business model.
